Easter Seals is the leading autism service provider in the nation. 1 in every 9 individuals of all ages served by Easter Seals Southeast Wisconsin, lives with autism.

Unlike other programs, our autism services do not end once your child reaches a certain age. Our services grow with your child. Easter Seals offers an array of therapeutic and recreational programs for your child and family throughout their life.

What is Autism?
Autism is a developmental disability that affects average brain function, development and social interactions. Affecting nearly 1 in 88 families, autism is recognized as “the largest growing disability” in the nation. It is a complex neurobiological disorder that typically appears during the first three years of life and affects a person’s ability to communicate and interact with others. Children and adults with autism have challenges in the areas of:

Communication
Socialization
Restricted/repetitive behaviors

While there is no known cause or cure, autism is treatable. Getting the right support, personalized interventions and therapy at the earliest stage in life can help your child gain the skills he or she needs to reach full potential. If parents suspect their child may have autism, they should follow their instincts, share their concerns with their pediatrician, obtain a diagnosis, and seek treatment options.
