Project SEARCH
Project SEARCH Logo 2013
Project SEARCH is an exciting transition program for young adults with disabilities. This Easter Seals program is a collaboration with local businesses (Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin and ProHealth Care), Division of Vocational Rehabilitation, school districts and long term funding options. It provides employment skill building through internship rotations within the local businesses.

In addition to the job skills learned in the internship, the classroom curriculum includes learning about appropriate interpersonal skills with supervisors and co workers, resume writing, job searching, how to apply for a job and how to understand what employers are looking for, understanding company policies and attendance, honesty and appropriate dress codes for your job. Other internship opportunities in this program include the Histology Lab, Pharmacy, Distribution Services, Imaging, and Neuroscience Clinic. Learn more

Project SEARCH was developed in 1996 by Nurse J. Erin Riehle, then the Director of the Emergency Department at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center. As the flagship program, Cincinnati Children’s Hospital provides technical assistance for replication and overall leadership to Project SEARCH worldwide. (http://www.projectsearch.us/)

“We love Project SEARCH – and the wins continue to come for us. There is inherent value for patients and for families. There is value and pride for our employees who want to be part of great futures for children. It is a win for the wonderful interns. Plus it is good for the soul.”

~ Peggy Niemer, Vice President – Service Excellence, Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin
