Recreation Centers

Holler Park Recreation Center

Easter Seals Adult Respite and Recreation Center supports over 250 adults and seniors with and without disabilities each year. The individuals we support are ages 16 and older with disabilities such as cerebral palsy, spinal cord injury, stroke, brain injury, multiple sclerosis, muscular dystrophy, spina bifida, amputation and varying levels of developmental disabilities. Our eldest members are in their eighties.

We offer a 10-12 week recreation schedule each quarter. Activities are offered Monday-Friday in the afternoons and evening and on the weekends as well. Each session requires a separate registration fee.

Our specially trained program staff provides assistance during programs as needed while continuing to encourage independence through the use of adaptations. We also provide personal care assistance to the members when needed.

Program Goals are to provide:

  • Recreation/education experiences that allow for the achievement of self-satisfaction, fun and self-fulfillment.
  • Recreation experiences in the environment that is least restrictive to all participants.
  • Opportunities to acquire new skills, hobbies and interests.
  • Integrated recreation opportunities to persons of all abilities.
  • Recreation/education community resources.

Programs are designed to meet individual needs and preferences. We provide age appropriate recreation activities to match the abilities of our participants and help them increase their ability to live independently and enhance their social lifestyle. Participants have the flexibility of participating in integrated and non integrated programs. They have the opportunity to build friendships and relationships with peers with disabilities, and when they feel comfortable, they can transition into opportunities with peers without disabilities.

As a service provider, we are committed to offering integrated recreation opportunities for people with disabilities that not only promote integration and independence but also enhance an individual's over-all experience. The Easter Seals Kindcare Adult Respite and Recreation Center's primary focus is serving individuals with disabilities, but we firmly believe in equal opportunity of participation; therefore, friends, family and community members are welcome to attend the following programs:

  • Arts and crafts (i.e. ceramics, various workshops)
  • Sports and fitness (i.e. bowling, swimming, sailing, exercise)
  • Social programs (i.e. dances, movies, special events, outings, travel)
  • Community events (i.e. sporting events, festivals, plays, dinner outings)
  • Community services (i.e. information, referral, advocacy)
