Family Services Providing services for families to parents and children with disabilities.
Our Family Services Program provides direct in-home support to families who face challenges in parenting and building positive personal relationships. Learning about reliable support resources can help families make better parenting choices that increase stability and resiliency for a healthy family environment. Families receive mentoring to secure safe housing, heath care and crisis counseling. They will also receive intense instruction in parenting and nurturing skills, and developing improved life management skills. An increasing number of adults with disabilities, who are heads of households, struggle with issues of socioeconomic depression, alcohol and substance abuse, violence, and lack of parenting resources. Just as many of these issues are hidden behind closed doors of our larger society, they also remain hidden in families with disabilities.
Nurturing Program for Parents with Special Learning Needs or Parents of Children with Special Learning Needs is an evidenced based parenting program. It is designed to build a nurturing family environment by increasing parenting competency skills.
