Volunteer Program
Last year, nearly 400 volunteers donated their time and talents to contribute over 4,000 hours of service to Easter Seals Southeast Wisconsin. Our volunteers play an essential role in our effort to serve over 6,000 children and adults with disabilities throughout the community each year!

Easter Seals Volunteers:
-
Assist Easter Seals staff and/or participants during recreational or educational activities in our Youth and Adult Respite Programs, and our Understanding Differences Education Workshop. -
Work with Easter Seals staff to occasionally perform office or administrative tasks associated with the operation of our programs and services. -
Help with planning for Easter Seals fundraising efforts such as Walk With Me. -
Participate as an Easter Seals intern. Internships may involve direct contact with our programs or may support administrative staff. We provide supervision and will support the requirements of the student’s school. -
Encourage the creativity and independence of all participants.
Volunteer Opportunities:
Adult Recreation Helper Dates: Seven days a week Locations: Kenosha, Milwaukee, South Milwaukee and Wauwatosa Description: Help lead an assortment of recreational group activities and outings with our Variety Club, Social Club, Dinner Club and more.
After School Youth Respite Helper Dates: Monday—Friday afternoons Description: Help school aged children with disabilities enjoy activities such as arts & crafts, games, cooperative group play, music and homework time.
Camp Counselor Dates: Summer Locations: Milwaukee, South Milwaukee and Wauwatosa, Waukesha Description: Help children, teen and adult campers with disabilities make memories during daily camp activities such a s hiking, sing-a-longs, sports, games, crafts, snacks, swimming, socializing and more!
Pool Partner Dates: Summer Location: Milwaukee Description: Help members enjoy the outdoor heated pool. Play a pool game or make up a new one. Teach someone to float, doggie paddle, or use a water toy. Pool Partners must be able to swim.
Ceramics Helper Dates: Wednesdays Location: Milwaukee Description: Be the hands or the eyes for a person with a disability. Help members select colors and paint detail work as they create ceramics projects.
Funtastic Saturday Helper Dates: Saturdays 1—4 p.m. Location: Milwaukee Description: Help someone create an artistic project or complete a craft activity. Play a musical instrument or help someone make music of his or her own. Help lead a group activity or game, or teach a new one.
Bingo Helper Dates: Sundays 2—4:30 p.m. Locations: Milwaukee and Wauwatosa Description: Assist and socialize with adults with disabilities to play friendly rounds of bingo. Help mark cards, call numbers, choose prizes and serve refreshments.
Bowling Buddy Dates: Sundays, Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays Times vary (1&1/2 or 2 hour intervals) Locations: Milwaukee and West Allis Description: Help members as they enjoy ramp bowling. Retrieve balls from the ball return and set them up on the ramp. Help bowlers “spot” their shots. Have some fun, be a friend and cheer for our bowlers!
Dinner Dance Helper Dates: Friday 6/7—9 p.m. Locations: Milwaukee, South Milwaukee and Wauwatosa Description: Help serve dinner and refreshments through the night, while socializing with members. Organize a group line dance or teach someone a new dance—wheelchair or not!
Understanding Differences Presentation Helper Description: Help present this interactive program to schools, scout groups, adult and corporate groups about having and living with disabilities. Training will be provided.
Events Helper Dates: Year Round Description: Be a part of the teams that coordinate plans for annual fundraisers, such as Walk With Me. Get involved as a committee person and/or help out at the events.
